Planetary Landscaping is a technology on the Diplomacy and Trading technology tree with a research cost of 680 Science. It unlocks one Planetary Exploitation and one Star System Improvement, requires research in Botanical Scanning, and allows further research in Optimized Logistics and Nanoscale Thermodynamics.

"In order to further control the environment and resources of a planet, landscaping can be done on a scale that is almost like re-terraforming. This permits far more intensive use of the surface for agriculture, development, or other purposes. In order to monitor and maintain a more delicate ecological balance, however, industry tends to be minimized."

  • The Cravers refer to this technology as Accelerated Yields. It has the following description: "In order to further control the environment and resources of a planet, landscaping can be done on a scale that is almost like re-terraforming. This permits far more intensive use of the surface for agriculture, development, or other purposes. There is a very real danger of over-exploitation, however, leading to an inevitable decline in food production."
  • For the Harmony, this technology allows further research only in Nanoscale Thermodynamics.

  • The 272 Industry cost for Inorganic Cultivation reflects the Sowers' Builders Trait. If you're playing a custom faction with the Sower Affinity but without the Builders Trait, you will see the base 340 Industry cost.
  • When playing with the game in French, Inorganic Cultivation shows "+3 Food Per Population on Planets with a Temple" (instead of Industry). It is most likely only a graphical glitch. [PENDING FOR TEST]
